’55 Vauxhall Velox eipv

The Vauxhall Velox debuted in 1948 with the Velox LIP (El – Eye- Pee) and continued in production for seventeen years ending with the Velox PB model in1965. In 1951 the Velox EIPV (Ee-Eye-Vee-Pee) replaced Velox LIP and was longer and wider than the previous model. The first model year EIPV received a 2275 cc (139 ci) 58 hp inline six cylinder engine before being replaced with a new slightly more powerful 2262 cc (138 ci) 68 hp engine also an inline six cylinder. The new engine could propel a Velox to 60 mph (92 km/h) in 21 seconds and onto a top speed of 80 mph (128 km/h), all this performance came at with a price of 23 mpg (12.0 L/100 km). The car featured here is a 1955 “Facelift” which received some significant changes, most notably an updated grill and semaphore arm indicators replaced by flashing indicators that were in the US style being red at the rear.  This mid-size car was 172″ (4.4 m) long, 67″ (1.7 m) wide, 63″ (1.6 m) tall and tipped the scales at 2430 Lb (1100 kg).
